Lost on iTunes

Hello!
I was just wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to download the Lost episodes from the US iTunes Store if you live in the UK?
If anyone knows, please can you let me know.

Thanks, Lostee xx

I don't think it is. I tried, and failed.

I suspect itunes has something in it that identifies your location (either through your sign-in or which apple site you downloaded the software from. This would then stop anyone outside the US downloading episodes using itunes.

Any legal ways around this would be appreciated (after all, ABC are getting their download and the show is shown on a free channel in the UK)..

Re: Lost on iTunes

They are kind of encouraging us to get these episodes illegally. I haven't succumbed to it yet, but August is a looooongggg time away so i might have to have a small fix every now and then.

Hello everyone, long time lurker, first time poster!

lostee
You can buy Lost (and anything else you want) off the US itunes store, even if you are in the UK.There are 2 ways. One is to buy an itunes music card (gift voucher) for the US store from ebay. That way you can click on "redeem" when you are on the frontpage of the US store and it will let you open an account without providing a credit card based in the US. **MOD edited to remove link. possible link to illegal behaviour**
Bear in the mind the resolution of these eps is not as high as the DivX version, although the editing is better
.

Season 2 of Lost is due to start in May, with a new night (and maybe time).

Re: Lost on iTunes

you all in this thread...any discussion of downloads are limited to ONE user
and iTunes. no other sites are to be mentioned. no work arounds to iTunes are
to be mentioned. otherwise any continured talk about that illegal behaviour
will be given warning points.

Faced with a gap of several months between the first airing in the United States and episodes abroad, some fans have turned to illicit TV downloads. Australia and the UK, two of the biggest "Lost" markets outside of the U.S., are also among the biggest offenders for downloading pirated TV.
Toumazis said it is too soon to say when Disney might sell TV downloads in other markets.
"What we're doing is evaluating the success of the shows and the electronic downloading of the shows," he said. "We need to think very carefully about how it would affect our existing businesses and relationships."
"Lost" is aired in the UK on government-owned broadcaster Channel 4, which has been at the center of a dispute between broadcasters and producers about who will control new media rights for services like TV downloads and video-on-demand.
I know this isnt very helpful, but at least it shows that they are aware of the problem and working on it. It also explains why the option isn't already avaliable in the UK.

Re: Lost on iTunes

I'm confused about something. Maybe someone can clarify things for me a bit. I keep seeing Mods saying all over the place that iTunes is the only place we're allowed to discuss about how to get downloads of the show.

But it's not like you pay to watch a TV show to begin with (like with a movie or song). Asking for a site that uploads episodes (after they are aired) is like asking your friends if anyone taped last night's episode, right? How is it different, and thus illegal?

Is it only because episodes ARE offered through a pay service (iTunes)? Like, would I be allowed to ask if anyone knew of a website where I could download episodes of Prison Break, for example? Or is this because of the eventuality that these episodes will some day hit DVDs?

Oops, I just realized I'm in the UK section. I got here from the New Posts link, and I guess I wasn't paying attention.

OK, well this doesn't change my question too much. I mean, I could understand if the creators of Lost and the TV stations didn't want the UK viewers to be able to view the episodes before they properly aired (for ratings and advertising reasons), but as the episodes ARE available legally on iTunes, that can't be it... so what gives?
