What we know for a fact...

Let us start a list of things we know as facts, not mere speculation:

1. People boarded what they believed was a flight from Sydney to LA.

2. The Losties believed that the plane crashed.

3. The climate where the survivors are at is tropical.

4. The main setting of the show is on a beach and the jungle.

5. The Losties found at least two bunkers.

6. Jack believes that he is a doctor.

7. Locke believes he used to be unable to walk.

8. Sayid believes that he was an Iraqi soldier.

9. Claire had a baby.

10. The Losties believe that there have been some deaths, including Shannon and Boone.

11. The Losties have weapons.

12. Desmond and Jack appeared to have recognized each other from their pasts.

13. A computer is in the bunker.

14. Food is stocked in the bunker.

15. The survivors watched a filmstrip that was in the bunker, telling them they need to punch in the numbers on the computer every 108 minutes.

16. Sawyer believes he is a con man.

17. Kate believes that she killed her real father.

18. Hurley believes that he won the lottery and as a result of the numbers has bad luck.

19. Hurley believes that he was in a psych ward.

20. Some "other" people on the island have taken survivors, including Walt.

21. Eko believes that a plane his brother was in crashed on this very island.

22. The Losties believe they have seen polar bears.

I need to stop here. Help me out with this. Thank You.

I dispute #27.
As far as I know, he really rescued Aaron from the sea, or did he not?
It was more than a dream, it was a trance, a mixture of reality and fantasy.
What was real and what wasn't is really uncertain.

Accepted; I think that I'm recalling his experiences of being in a situation and suddenly being brought back to "reality", which I've tried to capture as the experience of a "vivid dream".

29. Eko appeared to find his dead brother on a plane that Eko was supposed to be on.

Sorry to intrude - I think this thread is a great idea! I'm going to think on this and add some facts of my own later, but I just wanted to say that has the potential to be a a nice companion list to the "Big Unanswered Questions List".

I Suggest: The Big List of Known Facts and Safe/Logical Assumptions.

I also suggest that if the thread flourishes, it might be worthy of sticky.

35. The Losties found dynamite on a ship called the "Black Rock" that was somehow pretty deep inland.

36. The bunker has "quarantine" written on the inside of the hatch and bunker door.

37. Desmond supposedly told Jack (in Jack's flashback) that he was training for "a solo race around the world".

I'd like to amend #31 to read that Locke believes he gave his kidney....what's working for me about thinking this way is to allow all flashbacks to inform what the characters believe to be true, which informs their actions, but we're not assuming yet that it has all actually occured.

Is that needlessly pedantic?

38. Sayid found a cable which led oceanward and inland; inland led to Rousseau's habitat, oceanward is still unknown.

39. Michael experienced a dialogue exchange with someone he believed to Walt via the hatch computer

40. when the countdown clock reached "zero" Locke saw a set of symbols appear where the numbers had been and heard a grinding noise

41. the "correct" numerical sequence has been entered after the timer reached zero and the timer could still reset

42. Kate and Sawyer believe they have seen a horse on the island; Kate thinks she even touched it.

43. Shannon and Sayid believe they saw Walt after he was kidnapped; no physical contact occurred
