Sun and Jin story has to have more to it. Could Sun's father have arranged for the doctor to tell Sun and Jin together it was her fault since he knew how Jin would react and push Sun away. And then tell Sun separately that it was Jin who had the problem. And remember, Sun's parents were trying to have her marry the son of the Hotel owner.
OK I'm sure this has all been said before but the epi was totalay predictable as far as Sun/Jin was concerned. Some partially interesting stuff but mostly filler. Even the shock/horror doctor chasing Sun scene was like oh well saw that coming. A 30 min episode could easily have covered what really needed to be said.
Sawyer was in, what, two or three scences and stole them. Henry Gale is also great -- that cornflake scene with Jack and Locke was best moment of the episode. Some Sawyer-Gale interaction please.
Only saving grace was final few mins with Gale and the trailer for next weeks episode and I'm not going to comment on that here for fear of being MODERATED.
I hope it's okay to post this here, but in the latest tv guide there's an interview with Terry O'Quinn and he says that he's frustrated with the character and where it's going. About why he's in the wheelchair he says he doesn't know if the producers make these decisions based on what is truly good timing or if somebody's saying, "You better make this meal last as long as you possibly can." Asked if he goes online, he says he used to but not anymore because he began to be frustrated with the character and where he was going in the show. People online were asking questions I was asking myself, and it was getting in my head too much, so I stopped. Asked why he was frustrated and he said, "I'm always nervous about people getting tired of Locke. I want the character to remain fascinating. He's a seeker and I want him to remain a seeker. But what we want isn't always what they write.
I wonder how many of the actors are feeling the same way about their characters. Sounds like at least one hasn't been to happy this year.
Interesting. I said about a month ago that i could see some of the actors becoming disillusioned with their characters. Let's face it - if you were playing Jack, Locke, Kate, Hurley, Charlie and maybe Sawyer, would you be happy with the last few months ?
Locke was arguably the character of Season 1. I know a lot of people who really hooked into the show when it was revealed it was Locke's wheelchair. His character, what he had been through and how he adapted to the island was intriguing stuff.
Surely the fact that the characters don't discuss anything is also playing on the minds of the actors ? In island time, only one day previous Kate had made an amazing discovery with Claire and the following episode Kate's only use was to ask why there was a pregnancy test on the plane, be a shoulder for Sun and ask Jack about the hatch. Claire didn't even appear.

THanks Jomama for posting that. Glad to know that I am not alone in thinking that the characters are acting too weird.

I actually just read the TV Guide Q&A with Terry O'Quinn this afternoon. It's funny that he says he doesn't go online to read about Lost anymore, NOT because he is tired of reading fan complaints, but because he has the same complaints himself, and it just stirs him up! I found that sort of interesting. Good old TOQ
Please, no more soap opera crap. I watched season one in about 1 weekend, and caught up on season 2 in about a week, and I almost entirely forgot season 1 existed because I thought season 2 was already blowing it away. Unfortunately the whole 'Bringing up new mysteries that have nothing to do with anything and the already 2 season old (much less 1 season old mysteries) not showing any signs of resolution' is really getting on a lot of peoples nerves. Last night I introduced someone to Lost because I told them what a great show it was and he was excited to check it out, and when the episode was over, I was embarassed and the 2 big Lost fans apologized and consensus on that episode/show was 'Weak'.
But most of all, I just ask to end the constant women-being-catty with eachother and keeping secrets to everyone for absolutely no reason other than theyre catty - which is all that the writing and dialogue and reading between the lines shows. If anything go back to women-making-stupid-decisions on the island that seemed to happen almost every 5 seconds in season one. Anyone else not see that so far? (i.e. Kate getting kidnapped, Claire freaking out and running off because she remembered something, theres more stronger examples, but like I said, I don't remember season 1) Anyways, i'm rambling. Kill ana. Give henry a gun. Forget about Sun's baby, and keep Jin in character instead of becoming the angry husband out of nowhere and being the second person to destroy his wifes garden. I'm suprised she still bothers with it.
Oh, and give Locke the Island Crown.
Episode 16 sucked except for the story that wasn't Sun & Jin's.
I agree and I echo what other people as well as myself say, they should do it like 24. When they do repeats, I switch to something else. I have a feeling that they won't listen either.
Didn't go through the whole thread and maybe you got your answer, but they kind of talked about that in the Lost podcast this week.... it just takes a long time to get these episodes finished!
Oh and thanks Jomama for posting that, always fun to see the actors talking about the characters. THough that was rather depressing, not fun....
I liked it, but it wasn't like, "WOW!" It wasn't too exciting, but I know that next week will be amazing. I guess I was hoping for some more action-y scenes. This episode seemed to be more of a prelude to the next week's.
This is the first time I could have missed an entire episode of lost and not "missed" anything. No island mythology, no power plays, no real character based revalations, and none of the bizarre coincidences that I've come to love.
Not every episode can be a winner, but this episode could have been broken into pieces of other episodes and kept us all awake.
I'm sure I spend to much time thinking about the show, and my demand for quality entertainment is high, but even putting that aside in an attempt at a objective viewpoint leaves me feeling this was sub-par.
I can't leave the show, cause I have nothing else to turn to. Lost is the only tv show I watch regularly. Losing Lost is not something I really want to happen, but I feel it coming... not so much as jumping the shark, but the shark drowning.
