Red face Ana Lucia & Desmond

I love the characters of Ana Lucia Cortez and Desmond. Both are sexy, complex, frustrated, paranoid, intriguing and have multi-layered depths just waiting to be explored. Not to mention their my favorite losties. I read somewhere that Ana Lucia was going to have a love interest with someone we wouldn't expect. I believe Ana Lucia & Desmond would have an unexpected powerfull sexual attraction from the moment they will cross paths. Ironically, even though they come from separate worlds they are more alike than one would expect. Both are tormented, betrayed, paranoid, obssessive, frustrated and in desperate need of love. I think they would make a great love interest for the other and I hope the Lost writers may take this idea into serious consideration.
What are your thoughts on a possible Ana-Lucia & Desmond relationship.

Re: Ana Lucia & Desmond

Oh please don't let your wishes come true! That would totally, and I mean TOTALLY ruin this show for me!

Desmond is nothing like AL! He is compassionate, caring, trusting, loyal and devoted. None of those traits are anywhere near AL. Desmond needs, and deserves, someone much, much better than her. He deserves someone that is caring, and loving and someone he could trust. Sorry, but that's just not the AL that we have been shown to date.

My money is on Sawyer or Eko, if it's someone that's unexpected. Sawyer, though he has more heart in his little finger than she has in her whole body, is much closer to being like her than anyone on the island that we've met so far.

I want Desmond to stay as far away from her as possible! I see her as nothing but trouble.

Re: Ana Lucia & Desmond

You’re pairing combination is just to for words. And jbdean basically nailed it. Desmond does not deserve to be stuck with AL. Heck, no one on that island does, not even Zeke. Desmond is a compassionate person who cares about others. AL cares only for herself and if you can’t further her plans she has no use for you. THAT is not the type of woman for Desmond!

Re: Ana Lucia & Desmond

We're all entitled to our own opinions. I thought it would be an interesting combination. I just thought it would be far too obvious for her to hook up with Jack & Sawyer. Personally, I think the show focuses far too much on Jack & Sawyer's relationship to Kate. A relationship between AL & Desmond (for me that is) would be worth watching. Don't get me wrong. I LOVE DESMOND!! Believe me I also feel that he is devoted, caring and compassionate so don't feel that just because I would like to see him hook up with AL that doesn't mean I'm not thinking for his own sake. But saying that Ana Lucia is no good for someone like Desmond is a little unfair. She deserves someone good and decent like Desmond when she's been through all that tough adversity and trauma in her life. I get the feeling that alot of people have a poor opinion of her and I'm tired of it. I really think Desmond would be good for her. I know I'm not agreeing with the status quo but this I belive would make for good drama. Give Ana Lucia a chance for her character to be explored even further. She may be tough and assertive but she's also protective of the losties, caring, considerate and willing to lay down her life to make amends with Sayid for killing Shannon. There's alot of layers to her that will be worth finding out just give it time. I believe that Ana Lucia is quite vulnerable underneath that fierce facade.

Re: Ana Lucia & Desmond

insatiblenigma,

Of course we're all allowed our own opinions. That's why I simply stated mine and my reasons behind it and didn't diss your post (which I think is a good one).

But I don't think AL has shown any reason yet why she should get a good guy and the good guy would have to be stuck with a not-so-good gal. Seems really one-sided and unfair; good drama or not. I don't think they'd make a good match. I do think that Desmond has displayed all of the positive attributes I listed in my first post, while AL has displayed none (heck, she didn't even want to share her food with Vincent!). I stick to my opinion for this relationship and really hope it doesn't happen.

Personally, I'd be watching future eppys VERY carefully. I think TPTB may be starting to build a foundation for an AL-Sayid pairing, despite the current (and understandable) animosity between them.

Just saying.

Re: Ana Lucia & Desmond

One pairing I hope that never evolves would be between Ana Lucia & Sayid. I guess to me that would be an insult to Sayid's relationship with Shannon (I'm not crazy about Shannon's character) but that would be a smack in the face to the relationship that Sayid had with Shannon. Sayid knows it was an accident but doesn't know how to vent his frustrations unless he's torturing Henry Gale .

I'm an Ana Lucia fan but I'd rather see her hook up with someone that hasn't had a relationship on the island. They should explore unlikely pairings with persons who haven't hooked up with. I couldn't really see her with Charlie either. Ever since what he did to Aaron and Sun I really don't care for his character's redemption. Charlie had a chance but ultimately the drugs won esp. in his state of dry withdrawal. A cop & a junkie really doesn't bode well. She may be a former cop but that's a part of her that will never be turned off.

Well, she helped the Tailies survive their first 48 days on the island and took charge when no one else would. How's that for a reason?

And as for morality, Ana-Lucia's is no better or worse than most of the Lostaways on the island. Let's face it . . . they've all made mistakes or screwed up in major ways. I don't see why Ana-Lucia has to be singled out. And please don't bring up Shannon. That was an accident and it's getting old.

As for Ana-Lucia and Desmond . . . huh. I don't know about that.

That would be a very surprising and unsuspecting pairing. Interesting too.

Re: Ana Lucia & Desmond

Desmond entered the hatch an idealist with the soul of a human who cared deeply for others. His excruciating naivete led him to a three year sentence of overwhelming responsibility and lonliness. Someone heartless took advantage of his willingness to "lift it up" and he changed. For Desmond to recover some of his faith in mankind he is going to need to be nurtured.

AL has also suffered and needs nurturing too, but two broken people can't really be the best for each other.

I want the best for Desmond. Someone totally devoted to helping him heal. So, when is JBDean going to become a cast member??
