Who is Jessica?

I've not been here for a week--no new epi--but I find everyone is calling Alex Alex/Jessica. What did I miss? BTW I did a search and came up with nothing, I'm sorry if I'm asking something many others have asked and answered!!

For one of the early early promos for Maternity Leave a character was described as a young teen-age girl and at the time she was called "Jessica'. I don't think they have used that name since and since most people believe her to be 'Alex' but aren't quite sure they were using the Alex/Jessica designation just to be on the safe side. I think she's Alex but the 'others' might be calling her Jessica for all we know.

Thanks elfdream. Nice to see so many LOTR fans here!! My family is so bad that my 6 year old can recite lines of the movie, wears hobbit pants always (though not to church) and my girls want to grow up to be Galadriel and Goldberry! If I tell my son he can't wear hobbit pants when we go out, he says, they're not hobbit pants--they're boy capris! ROFL!!
