Why didn't Sayid seem surprised that Charlie had a gun? Knowing that Sawyer was in charge of them all, why didn't he ask him where the gun came from? I was expecting that to be an issue when it was revealed he had one and it wasn't. No one said anything. Are the saving it for later or will it just be dropped?
And where did Charlie get the gun? Did he take it from the stash before he told Sawyer where the guns were? Is there some way we will find this out for sure?

I don't know why Sayid didn't question it, but Charlie handing the gun to Ana-Lucia Sayid, was one of my favorite moments in the show tonight. I also wonder why Ana-Lucia assumes that Charlie doesn't know how to use one. He certainly didn't volunteer the information that he shot Ethan did he? Has that ever been revealed to the tailenders? I can't remember.

I’m sure it’s going to come up in the next episode. They were saving the tension for later!
What I loved about that scene is the way Sayid knew Charlie was going to give him the gun, even though he appeared to be handing it to Ana. Actually the whole episode, Sayid and Charlie seemed to be on an other level of understanding… communicating without words.
Well, if Sawyer's the new sheriff (and town pharmacist), then Charlie has certainly earned the right to be Deputy Pace. I'm sure it was one of the agreements he made with Sawyer before helping him in The Long Con. I get a gun.
But getting caught with it is gonna be bad news for Charlie. That's certainly gonna get back to Jack & Locke...and worse, JIN. It won't take them long to make the Sawyer/Charlie connection.

I think Sayid was so pre-occupied with his "quest" for the balloon, he let that slide till later. I would think Ana-Lucia would have made more of a stink though!
As for where he got it, I assumed he took it from the stash before Sawyer got to them. Or it might have been part of the bargain he made with Sawyer. He had been wanting a gun to protect Claire and Aaron since the end of last season.
As for where he got the gun - easy - he told Sawyer I get a pistol or I talk. I agree with you that I would think Sayid would ask a few questions. Then again, perhaps he just assumed Charlie got it from Sawyer and didnt' think more on it.
It was so great. And that's another thing, why didn't Charlie defend himself when Ana said you should give that gun to someone who knows how to use it? Good point, shootfire. How did Ana know that (and she'd be wrong). Charlie had every right to keep his own gun. Why the assumption that he had to give it up and then why DID Charlie give the gun over, even if it was to Sayid, so readily?

Well, the fact that he is British could have given her that impression. Most of my friends in England and Scotland have never handled a gun in their lives. And most of their citizens are not legally allowed to carry one. Some countries aren't as gun-crazy as America is!
