Though there are certainly serious communication issues between the survivors, I think a lot of this stuff gets discussed offscreen. The writers don't want to waste time on a scene where Kate describes to Jack, or whoever, a lot of stuff the audience already knows. When it's important to the story, we'll find out that Kate told Jack.
Well I'm not surprised about the lack of info spreading. It's standard at this point, and I'm almost beginning to become accustomed to it. It seems like Kate is really trying to help out the other ladies on the island recently. Interesting.

Agreeden, it will come up after the fact like "remember those disguises I told you about?"
There is no reason to discuss something that has no current relevance to the Sun pregnancy storyline.

But a few weeks on the bounce now we have had major cliffhangers and incidents that have ' disappeared ' in following weeks.
The costumes have no relevance to Sun being pregnant ? WHY DO WE NEED TO KNOW SUN IS PREGNANT WHEN THE CLOCK HAS RUNDOWN AND THEY HAVE FOUND A NEW HATCH !!! I realise that this may well be heading towards one major end-of-season incident but having the characters discuss things is paramount to good character development. That we are finding out more about them through flashbacks is because the studio wants to drag this on as long as possible ...and i think that is spoiling what was a brilliant programme.
I cannot believe viewers just take it for granted that the Losties discuss things ' off air ' when it's blatantly clear that they don't.
If I were on that island and nervous about "Others" and a bunch of strange happenings, I would want some kind of daily (or weekly) "report" with other people, especially if planning an army.
It's so frustrating how nobody communicates anything of real importance, but in twenty minutes, almost everyone knows about Sun's pregnancy. It's the biggest and smallest community!
In "Fire + Water," when Locke asks him if he's using heroin again, Charlie says "Kate sees a horse -- nothing. Pretty much everybody's seen Walt wandering around the jungle. But when it's Charlie it must be the bloody drugs, right?"
We never saw anyone tell Charlie about this stuff onscreen. I actually thought part of the intention of that line was to let the audience know that this type of information does make its way around.
