I just saw this on Kristin's eonline message board. Since its regarding an aired episode - I don't think it needs to be in the spoiler section. An interesting read....
So, i did speak with Damon yesterday and I have LOTS of goodies for you in this week's column!
For the time being, though, I just want to say that I thought last night's episode rocked so hard it was criminal.
SOOOOO GOOD!
And I have a little bitty treat. In case any of you missed the ep, or are interested in Damon's description of what happened, I'm posting it below. Mind you, he was just free-stylin' here to fill me in, so don't put TOO much weight into anything. But I thought it might be cool to read while you're waiting for more scoop, coming out this Friday night in my column.
DL: “The episode is book-ended by the fact that Ana Lucia and Charlie and Sayid, in fact, do find a balloon out there. There is a crashed balloon and a grave exactly as Henry described it, and that’s sort of the end of the teaser of the show, so we’re like ‘OK, well Henry’s a good guy’ and the story basically involves this lockdown that occurs in the hatch, completely arbitrarily, like it happens out of nowhere.
Locke starts hearing weird sort of subway announcements coming out of those speakers and before he can fix them, he starts to hear a countdown and these doors just come down, and now he is just completely sealed up in the main living area. So he basically lets Henry out of the armory and the two of them attempt to pry the door up, but in the process of doing so, they get it high up enough for Locke to slip under, so he can go into the geo dome and go push the button, but the motor cracks what they’ve been using to support the weight of the door and it ends up slamming down on his legs. So he is now stuck and has to sort of explain to Henry what he has to do in order to go push the button.
So this is sort of the primary story, but the big turn at the end of the episode –a couple things happen--. The big thing I think a lot of people are gonna be talking about is meanwhile back on the beach, Sawyer and Jack are playing poker, ostensibly for all the medicine. So it’s sort of a funnier story to cut away from, but the end result of that, Jack is hiking back to the hatch, completely oblivious to the fact that any of this is going on, and Kate catches up with them and they have sort of a cutesy moment, but then they see this sort of flashing light out in the middle of the jungle. This is after the lockdown has now ended. Again, arbitrarily, all the doors just go up.
And they go running towards the light and they see this huge palette out there, with a massive parachute attached to it, and Kate rips it open and it’s like all this new Dharma food. So the audience is basically I think going to, although it’s never said, extrapolate that the lockdown might be connected to this in some way. That whoever’s in the hatch sort of gets sealed up in there, so that they are not going to come running upstairs to see what’s dropping off the food, if anything. Now just as Kate is pulling out a box of Dharma Initiative Mac & Cheese, they hear sounds in the jungle and they all spin as Sayid, Charlie and Ana Lucia emerge, back from their little adventure, and Jack basically is sort of mad at her for having gone in the first place.
So he says ‘Well, did you find it?’ and off of Sayid’s look, we cut back into the hatch and Locke and Henry are now sort of playing a nice moment because we told the flashback story where Locke couldn’t trust his father. He lost Helen as a result of it. Now Henry actually came back for him. He went and he pushed the button. You know, it’s a very nice feel good thing, but then everybody comes busting into the hatch and Jack’s got his gun out and they shove Henry up against a wall, and Henry’s like ‘What?! You didn’t find my balloon?’ and Sayid says ‘Oh yeah, we found your balloon and we found the grave that you described. All of it was there, just like you said. But I still didn’t believe you, so I decided to dig up that grave just to be sure, and your wife wasn’t inside. In fact, there was a man.’
And then he takes out an old, beaten up wallet and pulls out a driver’s licence, and says ‘A man named Henry Gale’ and it’s this fat, black dude. So we realize, oh no, and that’s the end of the episode. The end of the episode is Michael Emerson, again, does the genius thing that he does in a single look and you realize, OK, he’s an Other.
But what people are going to be talking about is that while Locke is stuck under the door and Henry is crawling through the vents and the alarms are all going off and we’re wondering if he’s going to push the button, suddenly all the lights in the hatch go out and then this other light comes on and it’s a black light, and Locke’s eyes open up and wonder and as we boom around, we realize that drawn on the back of the door that he is currently trapped under is this huge map. And on that map are, like, all these sort of scrawled notations, but apparently every Dharma station on the island, and whoever drew the map, whatever they knew about it. And in the very center of the map is a Dharma station with a big question mark in the middle.”
bumpin this up. I think it answers some questions
floating around on other threads.
Bumping is not only uncool..it is against the rules of the site...threads live and die on their own...just post something relevent if you want it on top..don't bump it there for no reason. Thanks.
Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

If it's against the rules, then sorry.
But "uncool"? Thanks really a ridiculous
thing to say. Grow up.
no hes saying that michael emerson has that look that he gives that throws us for a loop because we will all go back and think hes an other now
its almost the opposite tho because hes like he gives that look that makes us THINK hes an other
as in hes not
anyway im glad he semi confirmed that we are to believe the doors and the food drop are tied together and the map that lit up under the black light is of all the stations surrounding a big question mark (station etc.)
it seems damon is only saying that we REALIZE he is an other, so i don't think that was a confirmation. I do think that he more or less confimred that the ? is a dharma station though, which i found sorta shocking. I mean i'm sure most people would assume that but the ? could be referencing to a lot of different things.
Great thread! Thanks for posting this, kalispera. Interesting stuff from Damon.
(I almost missed it, so thanks, Dumpy.)
[not trying to be snarky to our mini-mod, I promise!]
What got me was Damon's comment: So the audience is basically I think going to, although it’s never said, extrapolate that the lockdown might be connected to this in some way.
Does this mean that all the thought we've put into that idea is for naught? *groan*
I also love how Damon said, "The thing I think ppl will be talking about..." LOL He sure got that right!
this is awesome. I saw the episode, but i really like having the recap from the writers' perspective. I like the description of the hatch especially bc:
