I really didn't feel like this finale had any creativity
behind it. Almost as though they were picking the most
basic theories from the net to spur on their story. Wow, it
really took alot of thought going with the electromagnetic
field causing the plane crash. For those who don;t know.
I'm being sarcastic. After reading Abrhams talk as though
the ending would be mind blowing, it's pretty sad the way it
ended. A whole season later and nothing close to telling
us who the others were. A whole season later and we find that
Walt wasn't really that important and the whole storyline was
a way to waste time. A whole season later and all we get as
a supposed cool ending, is two dudes in a monitoring
station looking for the island. Wow, that is just sooooooooo
mind bending. I'm gonna lose sleep over this one. After this episode
I am convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are making
this stuff up as they go. And that the show will end
in a terrible fashion. There already has been a pretty big
amount of people who just don't care anymore. Check the
ratings. I predict a half a million gone each year. Mabe I am the
only one. But I thought the finale had nothing truly
interesting to say.
I agree with the other comments in this thread. I expect to not watch next season and maybe just read some episode summaries online or something. Cool statue foot though.
I can't believe they went the whole year and told us absolutely nothing about Walt. He just sails off into the sunset with his murderous father, and doesn't even attempt to bring Vincent. No explanation of why Libby was in the hospital, no Cindy, no tail-end children. I'm just too disgusted for words, and there is no way I am ever watching this show again.
Best Season Finale....More like worst....Very Disappointed
Taken directly from someone at thetailsection.com (where lots of people feel the same way).....
I think JJ was a little high when he called it one of the best season finales in TV history. Maybe he was hanging out with Tom Cruise's ego when he wrote it.
Flight 815 Crash - unresolved. Desmond "theory" is junk. Curiously, if it's a big enough magnetic anomaly to break a plane at 30,000 odd feet, why didn't it destroy everything in the Hatch first, which is right nearby?
Michael/Walt - off into the sunset with no explanation. Resolution? Hardly. It meets the bare minimum, the characters being physically next to each other.
The Button - something happened! but what? we still don't know. it's a good thing the worthless smackhead survived to bring no news to any of us.
Kate/Jack/Sawyer - lol! headshot n00b! nothing.
The Others - We gained no additional knowledge of The Others, except that Fenry may be higher up than we thought. And the key word there is "may".
So JJ et. al. shortchange us on the content we were promised, and on top of it all the loyal viewers get a four-toed-left foot and a few new characters to fatten the bloated corpse of Lost. We've been left in limbo yet again, and been fed more empty promises that fulfilling explanations.
So y'all can let me know how third season manages to ask more questions than give more answers, I'll be doing something worthwhile with my time along with the several million other viewers who turned their backs to this season's bull****.
It's bad enough to make us listen to those annoying podcasts (hash and re-hash is the stupidest thing I've ever heard of).
The concept of the show was great, there were so many places it could've gone. So many things could've been answered while still leaving the audience intrigued. I'm truly disappointed guys, you're getting paid big bucks to do much better. I think you just lost a noticable % of your fan base.
I am also completely underwhelmed. The hatch story in particular is completely convoluted. If there is indeed a danger of electromagnetic meltdown, then send some competent techs in to design an automated system that vents the buidup when needed. I can't wrap my head around Skinner box experimentation being allowed to continue when you know you've got a real crisis going. And then you add in the island visions that work to make sure the button gets pushed. Are these just separate from the scientific team that designed a fail safe just in case the lab rats revolt? And what does the fail safe do, destroy the electromagnetic generator that's an indigenous feature of the island?
We've had a whole season deoted to the hatch and its explanation still makes no sense!

Desmond put it best
"Ignorance is bliss" for some people
Also. This wasn't the series finale, just a season finale. Its meant to leave lots of open threads
