The Purpose for Having People Observe

i'll keep the beginning short so it popups when you put the mouse over the thread. and then get into it. I think the reason that they want people who have no instruction or knowledge of what's going on with the experiment to be writing everything down in a notebook is because the Higher-Ups want to see if the people who are injecting themselves in the hatches can be passed off as normal in the real world. People are more prone to write things down if it's out of the ordinary, especially with no instruction as to what to be looking for.

So, here's my line of thinking.

-They have different formulas in different hatches that the inhabitants need to inject themselves with. I'm going with this assumption because the formula we've seen had the Numbers on it, and the Numbers seem to be specific to the Swan.

-They get the inhabitants to inject themselves because they tell them that there's a sickness that can get caught. Yes, we heard it first from Danielle and she's not in on it (supposedly), but I can draw this by the QUARANTINE on the door.

-All the hatches supposedly have a different "research" thing going on. Like magnetism, zoology, etc. OR, just an extreme environment of a possible real life situation... for example, people have pets and are around animal life all the time, people are around magnetic fields all the time like tvs and all that (magnetic fields are the same as electric fields depending on your frame of reference. same effects), etc. so if there's an extreme environment for each, the rare occasions that could possibly show up in every-day life would be more probable to happen and see how the formula reacts with the rare occasion, or if people can tell that others are taking the formula based on that rare occasion. like in softball, we practice so much but there are still things in games that go ridiculously that we could not have practiced... like a ball bouncing off of someone's helmet, or in baseball hitting a homerun to have it hit a fan right in the stomach and bounce back into play with lots of people not seeing it... (who saw that game!?)

-the Pearl hatchers are there for shorter times than the other hatchers. More and more objective viewers can watch and potentially find something.

So, what if the whole reason for dharma/hanso is to make this formula, which we have no idea what it does yet, but it could blow our minds. They have already made it and are now testing it on the hatchers. With the people in the Pearl observing, the Higher-Ups are really just looking to see if the people in the Pearl can tell if they're acting weird, and find any side-effects/ways to tell if someone's taking the formula. With the different hatches, you are getting extremely different environments to test this formula in. So really, if the animals start freaking out after the hatchers took the formula, or the subjects start vomiting and become nauseous in the magnetic field, or if they can't fully interact with people NOT on the formula or take scrupulous picking of their brain in the psychology hatch, they know the limits of this formula. Maybe the paranormal research is actually done ON the hatchers, and the other research are just a red herring for the hatchers which are really the subjects.

People reading these notes will be able to notice patterns that were unnoticed by the writers, AND be able to read what the Observers consciously made note of that they saw. I really think they're in the finalest stages where they want to be able to pass the people taking this formula off as normal people. They need fresh minds to see if they've overlooked anything.

This much scrutiny of the side-effects/ways to tell if someone's taking the formula means that this formula is really really important. Worthy of government involvement... worthy of a secret island away from ethic-boards.... Worthy to pull people from Australia, where Jack is from, Nigeria, and Iraqis to get together and conspire (people who we think work with DHARMA/Hanso, not the losties)

I hope this makes sense? I forget what the rest of the "research" is being done besides zoology, magnetics, psych, and paranormal. Oh, and maybe there aren't different formulas? I'm still debating that in my head; whether all the formulas in the hatches are the same or rotating or all the same all the time but different from hatch to hatch.

extremely sorry this is so long... i sometimes skip long messages and know that the longevity of this will turn some people off.
