***"We’re still trying to be ... firmly ensconced in the world of science fact. I don’t think we’ve shown anything on the show yet... that has no rational explanation in the real world that we all function within. We certainly hint at psychic phenomena, happenstance and ... things being in a place where they probably shouldn’t be. But nothing is flat-out impossible. There are no spaceships. There isn’t any time travel." - Damon Lindelof
"There could not possibly be aliens because, as everyone knows, this is not a science fiction show" - Damon Lindelof
" No, they’re not dead." - Javier Grillo-Marxuach
" It’s not a dream." - J. J. Abrams
"This is not a fictional reality that is playing out in someone’s brain." - Damon Lindelof
" First off, I want to go on the record as saying there are no dinosaurs on the island. There haven’t been, there won’t be, it will never happen." - Damon Lindelof
"This is not a show about the supernatural, despite the fact that we have a very huge creature that likes to eat people. Despite the surreal, bizarre aspects of the island, there will be an explanation for it. It may not come for a very long time, but certain information about the island will explain how things are possible. We’ll try to root it in real science or real pseudo-science. There will be no mystical reason or an island of monsters. The island has been around for millennia, and many people have found themselves on it, and as far as we know, nobody has ever gotten off. There is also the possibility of others being on the island, they just haven’t seen them yet. And we’ll never know how big this island is. It could be enormous, but odd things will keep them from knowing the full length and breadth of it. It’s an interesting little allegory. It will be very mysterious... *****The show will always be from the perspective [of] the people on the island, so we never see the outside world, except from their perspective(This one might have been busted in LTDA we will have to wait for season 3)." - David Fury
"There isn’t one answer to everything." - J. J. Abrams
"Every single name on the show has purpose and meaning" - Damon Lindelof
" All I can say is, every prop is absolutely intentional" - Damon Lindelof
" We definitely chose that story for a reason." - J. J. Abrams, Hurley & Walt's comic book
"The flashbacks serve as a great conduit to learn more about these characters, but that’s not all they’re there for. The idea that these people -- way before they got on this airplane -- have interacted with each other either directly or through third parties is one of the cool pieces of tapestry of the show." "These peoples’ lives may have intertwined before they all got on that plane in ways that they themselves are not aware," "It gives complete purpose as to why we’re telling two different stories, one that happened before the crash and one that happens after." - Damon Lindelof
" The plane did not crash by accident. It crashed for a very specific reason." - Damon Lindelof
Damon:
Other than the fact of the not-pushing of the button is what crashed Oceanic 815 in the first place and brought them all there, the idea that the sky turned purple and the island shook… Events in the finale last year catastrophically screwed them all in a way that they don’t really appreciate yet.
1/20/09 Obviously, the big question going into this year is this idea of, there's only two fundamental approaches to time travel. There's the "Back to the Future"/"Heroes" approach where you can go back and change things, that stepping on a butterfly, suddenly, there's a different president, people have anetnna, George McFly's a best-selling author. And the other way is, if you went back in time and tried to kill Hitler, you would fail, because Hitler wasn't assassinated. What would happen if you were in the past and tried to change the present as you knew it, would you A)Fail, or B)Succeed, or C)Cause the thing you were trying to prevent. And that's really interesting to us, because there's no (do-over's).
One thing we all decided was, the biggest mistake we could make in Season 5 would be to hold back or slow down or go back to a stalling modality. We’ve basically been feeding the audience crystal meth for a year, to cut them off cold turkey and give them a pack of chewing gum and say, “We’ll give you more crystal meth in Season 6,” would have been a disaster. When you piss off a junkie, they will do almost anything to get their drug. ~ Damon

1/22/09 I don't know if anyone listened to Damon and Carlton's video on USA today that came out this week.
"The rules of time travel, as they have been postulated on our show, is that if it happened it happened and that the future can't be changed, now, whether the characters believe that is another question - And I think something that the.... would be good if the show explored, don't you think Damon? Wow. That's great information, thanks. One of my "ridiculous" theories was just shot down by reading this, but hey - it's better to know sooner than later.
And now here is my secret, a very simple secret. It is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye.
Sam G... very much appreciated and excellent job. Keeping it up to date will be tough, but well worth it.
These were all in the LOST Library, I learned a long time ago to keep track of these things.
