Yup. That's exactly what it is. It's a fake band that was created for the show and they simply referenced it again.

I thought they said it wasn't a fake band. That they just found this really obscure old band that had no hits and only one album. They just wanted to reference a band that no one would really know about, but actually did exist. Showing that the records in the hatch must really be old.
