Re: The Wolf?

It was definately a polar bear. That is how Locke knew the polar bear has captured Eko.

Exclamation Polar Bear or Wolf?

Maybe I'm just crazy (don't answer that ) but the animal image that leaps out of the fire in the sweat lodge looks more like a wolf than a polar bear to me: http://gallery.lost-media.com/displa...m=1185&pos=222

So I started thinking, "Who is most fearful of a wolf? Who might need saving from a wolf?" Then it hit me, "SHEEP!"

Locke got the most agitated & fearful in his airport vision when he saw Benry wanding Jack (SHEPARD). Is the "Shepherd" in most need of saving? Eko's stick always did remind me of a shepherd's staff.

I'm going to take a wild stab and say that Locke will save Jack. It would be his ultimate redemption - to be the hero and save the one guy who has always gotten one over on him.

~~~~~~~~~~~
Ok, let's say I'm going the wrong way with the above theory....
Perhaps the animal appearance is a warning of a "wolf in sheep's clothing" --- perhaps there is a spy in camp? Is there another "other" keeping tabs on the Losties? Hurley is suspicious of Desmond. Has Desmond been turned by the Others???
Lots to think about if you see the apparition as a wolf instead of a polar bear!!!
Re: Polar Bear or Wolf??????
Good points about the wolf and sheep. I looked at it frame by frame on the TiVo and everyone at my house thought it was a wolf...
Re: Polar Bear or Wolf??????
Yeah, it kinda looked like a wolf, even in the cave when it was shot from the front, but in the cave atleast... when it ran away, you can see it's a bear.
Re: Polar Bear or Wolf??????
Did the DHARMA group have any wolves that they were experimenting on? For some reason I think there might be a connection between wolves and the Others, but I can't remember what comment in the script led me to think that!
Re: Polar Bear or Wolf??????
The SFX shot looked a lot like the polar bear from Season 1 so I thought it was the polar bear. Could have been a wolf though, it looked kind of grey.
I think you're right about Locke saving Jack, but I don't think Jack's going to go back with him, I think he'll stay with the others.
