Does anyone else find it interesing that Ben wears glasses and seems to only wear them when he views the TV monitors? (I can't remember if he has worn them other times.) If they have been connected to the outside world then wouldn't he have contact lenses? I don't get the idea he really needs glasses and he hasn't worn them around Jack, Kate, or Sawyer which makes me wonder if the glasses are some kind of clue. Any thoughts on this?

I don't think it's necessarily a clue. Both of my folks only wear their glasses when they're reading the paper, watching TV, or doing things they need to see in more detail like reading a knitting pattern. My mom wore contacts until she was in her 40's, and needed to change to bifocals, so I don't think it's weird that he's not wearing contacts. In fact, I didn't have vision troubles until a few years ago (I'm in my late 20's), and I went straight to glasses and rejected contacts.
Basically, I'm saying I don't think there's anything to it other than showing that they have the technology/access on the island to exam eyes and make prescription glasses... Which we already kind of knew, as we saw a glass eye last season.

What does being connected to the outside world have to do with wearing or not wearing contacts? Plenty of people who need their vision corrected do not wear contacts. I do. My daughter doesn't - she likes her glasses.
When I see Ben in his glasses, I think one thing - He's a scientist. The others team is primarily a scientific team working on something important enough, that they feel it justifies kidnaping; murder; using people as test subjects against their will! Maybe they really do believe they're saving the world!

Agreed, I don't think that it is a clue in that sense, either. He may be far-sighted, which wouldn't require glasses to be in constant use.
However, another possibility could be that he doesn't like to wear them in front of someone when he is trying to appear powerful. While glasses aren't a 'weakness' they do show that he is not perfect.
I was going to start a thread about this. I think that the glasses are significant, he seems different in that scene, more intense somehow. I may be crazy, but in the scene where he is wearing the glasses his face doesn't seem as injured as it does in the scene where they're trying to convince Jack to do the surgery. You can see scars on his lips and the cut on his nose isn't visible because of the angle, but he looks healthier. Maybe the glasses wearing Ben is his twin. Maybe the twin is the Jacob mentioned by Pickett.
