Where has Sayid gone to this season? He's not his usual spotlighted self...I feel like he's spent a lot of his (very little) screentime out of character. That whole trip on the boat with Jin and Sun, I just couldn't believe. It was so...not the Sayid I love.
I don't think it's Naveen Andrews' fault--He's a fantastic actor who is doing his very best with what he's been given.
I just miss the intensity and complexity of Sayid.
I worry about him, shunted off to the sidelines with no warning. There's so much interesting stuff they could do with his recovery after Shannon's death...I could see him taking charge of a portion of the Lostaways...or trying to find Ben...or anything, really. I just feel like he's in jeopardy because of this sudden drop in screentime. I don't want him to be the next to die... *worries*
I know how you feel!! I love Sayid, he has been in my top 3 fave characters since the beginning of the show. I hope during the second half of this season we will see him ALOT more. Naveen is a great actor, but I don't think the writers have invested in Sayid's storyline as much as some of the other characters' after season 1. We need to see more of him!! I wish the writers would just develop the characters they have instead of trying to bring new ones on all the time.
Last season Naveen was working on a couple of movies so I think they put Sayid on the back burning much of the time to give him the time off.
Now he has to be brought back in with a story that fits what is happening now. I think we will see more of him now that they have set the stage with the Others and the kidnapped Losties. They had to get that whole story line going. I think he and Locke will be very active come Feb. We have seen signs of the logical Sayid returning in his dealings with Locke so far.
Poor Sayid. I think the whole sail around the island thing, along with the "dumbest ambush in history", (seriously it was). I feel bad for Naveen. He needs to get back to his old badass self that he was in S1, like Locke has again.
I don't think Sayid was out of character. He's been good this season, albeit he hasn't had a whole lot to do. But I trust he'll have some nice story points with Locke when the show returns on February.
Poor Naveen? I wouldn't say. He's got a dream job on one of the best shows on TV, not to mention he lives in a paradise like Hawaii. He's very well off.

A dream job where you don't get to work? Not as dreamy anymore.
I am seriously missing Sayid! It seems like if your name's not Jack, Kate, Sawyer or Locke, you can forget about decent screen time. I'm really frustrated with the show right now for this very reason. Sayid was such a kick *** character in season 1 and now he's been severely reduced and slightly dumbed down. It's really annoying. I want the old (smart) Sayid back.

I don't have much to comment on except my whole-hearted agreement! Bring back Sayid! I posted a topic about Sayid and his line "I believe what I see" under I Do. There are a lot of peple who miss Sayid!
Count me in too. I miss Sayid whole-heartedly, and I really wish they could bring Sayid back into being a real, three dimensional character. Some of the bright spots of season 2 were really most of the One of Them episode, and other sharp interrogations of Henry. And lets not even get into season 1.
What makes me mad is that TPTB must think that Sayid isn't as important or interesting as Locke, Jack, Kate or Sawyer, therefore they don't care to do much with him. He's almost become completely 2-dimensional, only a device where the plot was needed, or even 1-dimensional. If Sayid got as much screentime as Locke then I'd be as happy as ever.
Sayid is a great character. He was excellent in season one and his episode in season 2 was one of the best. Naveen is a brilliant actor but like many other actors in the show he is being left in the background to facilitate boring Jack, Kate and Sawyer stories.

I don't understand why many consider this to be a huge blunder on Sayid's part. How was he to know that they had a boat? The Others were supposed to be living in a fairly primitive settlement.
