I hear of that happening a lot. People are together for years, then they marry and divorce in months. They were dating over three years before they got engaged. You think you'd know a person.
But I wonder if this now means Emilie is free to stop commuting and live in hawaii. Interesting this news coincides with news that

Claire is going to get much more screentime the rest of this season. Maybe her increased workload demanded she leave LA and they decided it would be best to split. Hopefully this means more Charlie and Claire on Lost for the long haul now that she's more available.
