Nadia in solitary, solitary Danielle, imprisonment and Sayid
I really enjoyed the parallel themes in this episode, and had some questions about it. Is Danielle's self-enforced solitude any less of a prison than being thrown 'in solitary', like Nadia? And as a fugitive, isn't Nadia just as solitary? Is isolation a form of punishment, or is it a reward? And if Danielle is a 'noble savage', why attempt to imprison Sayid?
And I know this episode was 'Sayid-centric', and we certainly learned a lot about him, but I felt he was a bit upstaged by Danielle! Not to say I was not impressed with Naveen Andrews' acting - he sure can speak with those eyes!
I keep thinking about that music box also, and didn't Danielle keep Nadia's photo?
Re: Nadia in solitary, solitary Danielle, imprisonment and Sayid
Technically she didn't keep it, he forgot it. ;D
And Danielle emprisonned Sayid because she was afraid he was one of the others, and that he knew where Alex was. Then she didn't want him to leave because she was too alone, or something.

I never felt Naveen was upstaged by Mira.... the directing was a bit over the top sometimes. Both actors shown their strong acting gifts. Mira even said the Naveen was a wonderful actor!
Danielle's music box connection was so touching; as was Sayid's photograph induced memories. Yeah, she did keep the photo as I recall.
Hmmmmm... I wonder if Sayid doesn't mention Danielle to the other's. She reveals Sayid's photo to the others (at some point), after there is disbelief that her existence was unknown. Hmmmmm...... :::squints her eyes:::
