Looking UP, and other noble vacation goals...

I like the concept of "Carrie" style powers but I think it may be more... you are absolutely right about Ben looking UP. In fact they all come out of the houses looking up. Funny how Ethan stays in the plumbing shed until after the earthquake... My behind would have been long gone. Reguardless, everyone came out of the houses and looked up. and for what? maybee this had happened before? Maybee it was forseen. Like Desmond and his "Future seeing", Like Walt and his "Special Powers" We have to agree that the Others are facinated with psychic abilities. Which makes sense given that they are the offspring of the Dharma Program Scientists. But what kind of offspring are they? My immediate assumption is that they Others have survived some kind of Civil war within the Dharma Folks. The Others belive in Destiny with a capital "D". Follow this down the Rabbit hole and I begin to think about Religous Nuts like Warren Jeffs. So I wonder are the Others some kind of Religous Zelots? What Kind of Religion would they Prescribe to? Buhdist? Dharma? I-ching? Chineese? Bhagavadigida?.... That is where I fall apart. Primarily this is because of "Patchy" and the reality that the Others had no awareness of Desmond or the other hatches. Then, I am then forced to wonder about some other group or "Bad Guys" Since Ben so clearly articulated that he was a "Good Guy" What if there is an island civil war? But Wait. This theory has no evidence other than a grainy video of a one eyed man sitting in front of some computers who becomes instantly aware that he is being observed... That is what's really creepy. And what about the food drop? Obviously the Darmah folks are still supporting the program.

What I love about this show is that It asks me to lay all of my modern day socio-political scenarios to make sence of the characters while simultaneously maintaining a plotline that defies the cultural normalcy. For example I can uderstand Mr Eko and his twisted past with his brother. But I am at a loss to understand the Smoke Monster, or the Power structure of a community of caucasians who live in stick frame apartments apparently in direct contact with the modern world who want to manipulate a group of plane crash victims....

If I was Ben, and I lived on an Island what would make me want to maintain contact with the modern world and yet live in total isolation?

Who is Jacob???????

The writers have given me a mysterious character and have named a mysterious character "Jacob". Is he the real Warren Jeffs? The Man, The myth, The Legend. Perhaps he is the psychic guru of newage wisdom who has tapped into the ether of the otherside. Or maybee he is the trustfunded offspring of the original Dharma program founders, who for his own pleasure is running some long term human eperiment?

Aren't we all?

Since they heard the plane crashing, it would make sense for most of them to look up...though other than that the Others being interested in psychic abilities is definetely a possibility.

Perhaps the Others found the island, crashed there, and Ben discovered he was healed there. Maybe they've been pretending like they're helping Dharma, even following their orders, when really Ben's trying to save himself. Again the psychic and other theories can come in here, since Ben would be curious as to why he is healed there, specifically.

Maybe the Others aren't in charged of the hatches. They know about it, but they're the property of the real Dharma.

A chance for life? Maybe he simply wants to stay on the island- the only place where he thinks he can live.

Maybe he is part of Dharma, just giving this new generation of Dharma workers a chance to be apart of the experience.

Overall, these are some of the important questions anyone trying to come up with an Island/Dharma/Others theory needs to be asking

I still want to know why Jack needed to cure Ben. How come the island didn't do it?

the others crashing there with ben as a child or older is a false idea, ben has said he lived on the island his entire life, we have no reason not to believe him.
