Lightbulb Libby / Edmund Burke Connection?

Hi all, my fiancé and I are huge fans of the show and this website and thought it was time to contribute.

I'm home sick with the flu today and decided to re-re-rewatch the latest episode...

I noticed something in the "Not in Portland" episode that triggered a phonecall to her which she immediately added to. So, here it is.

In the scene with Juliet / Edmund, there is a sailing trophy on the desk behind Dr. Edmund. It stood out alot because it was a cheap standard blue trophy that I'm sure all of us have kicking around somewhere in a storage unit. I mentioned it to her, and she said "WOW, what if Dr. Edmund Burke is actually Libby's Ex-Husband?!".

Now, the part I don't recall exactly, is how Libby said her husband died when she was talking with Desmond. Do you? Does this make sense?

***EDIT*** I'm a massive tool. I meant LIBBY.

Re: LIbby / Edmund Burke Connection?

This makes absolute sense! Though Libby said her husband got sick... But the time frame would match up perfectly since Juliet arrived three years ago and Desmond obtained the boat three years ago!

Quote:
LIBBY: I have a boat. It was my husband's but he got sick. He wanted to sail the Mediterranean -- he never -- he passed away about a month ago.
This also makes me wonder if Penelope was supposed to marry him, with the connection through sailing and wealth.

Cool. Do you know how to make/find a screencap of the trophy?

But... Edmund Burke got hit by a bus... he didn't get sick.

There we go... There's the other possible connection. That trophy ties Edmund to somebody... Maybe he sailed with the Widmore's? I don't know, I'm sick. (not THE sick, just the flu).

In the scene where Libby is talking to Desmond, she says that her husbands name was David.

Ok, that's the end of that then... Now, what else could the boat trophy mean?

Re: LIbby / Edmund Burke Connection?

I think it's still possible that Edmund Burke had something to do with Desmond's race. It probably is a stretch but he could have been Penny's fiance or associated with Widmore in some way.
