Removed link question... again...

I guess I need to start a new thread to clarify since my previous one was immediately closed....

Previously I asked:

Could you tell me what the link was that was removed from the following post and why is was removed? I'm not sure I remember what I linked and I definitely don't know why it was removed.

First of all Karri, I don't know why I got a snarky response from you. What are you talking about when you say "restate this"?

As I said initially, I don't remember what I linked in that particular post and since Starrox is the Mod who removed it I asked him what the link was (I thought that was a post where I linked a ratings graph but again, I don't remember).

I'm not sure how you seem to know speicifcally what the link was when Starrox was the one who removed it but it would be nice if I knew so I don't link it or something like it again.

What I am talking about when I say "restate this" is this is a pretty well known rule. No advertising without admin permission or no posting links to other sites which contain content which violate our rules. I am not going to repost the link for you because that pretty much defeats the purpose of removing it in the first place. You can pretty much assume if the link is to another non official site, it should have admin permission before posting it and you can also pretty much assume if the link is to a site which contains material which violates our rules (language, violence, etc.) then it won't be allowed. So you take your pick of reasons why the link was removed.

So your still not telling me if it was removed because it was for "advertising without admin permission" or "posting links to other sites which contain content which violate our rules".

You could tell me which of the two reasons it was removed for instead of being vague. You also could have easily PM'd me the link.

As I said in my first post "we do not allow the advertising without admin permission or linking to sites which violate the rules of this site." So both. Your link violates both. You could have easily PMd me the question instead of posting here, again, after I closed the thread.

Sure you can, if the site doesn't violate the rules, and when in doubt about if the link is allowed or not, PM a mod and ask or read the FAQ. Official sites:ABC, EW, things of that nature.

Hi Karri, it would be useful to know how far offical sites go... wikipedia, or a site used in conjunction with a game etc. especially in the Chit Chat or Games section

general rule of thumb. no other forums. no sites that break our rules. (as stated above)

we do allow sites that contain content that we dont have like EW, cast pics from ABC (Karri already mentioned those), articles from various news sources UNLESS they are paparazzi in nature, gossipy, pure speculation with no actual comments from the person. we do not tolerate sites that use profanity in their articles. (which does break one of our rules)

i can let Karri elaborate some on this if she sees that it is necessary. but that is a basic overview. we use that as a starting point and then evaluate each link as to whether or not it follows site rules.
