The locations were so beautiful in this eppy. The location where Patchy almost called out Locke on is paralysis was sooooo beautiful. Even if you did not enjoy this episode you could just look at the marvellous locations in awe.
I LOVED this episode. Not just the island stuff but the flashback, as well. That was brilliant! Cheers to you all who thought he was Claire's dad. The last part with Claire talking to her mom was so heart breaking.
Jack playing football. NICE. Can't wait to see what's up with that. I had the same expression Kate did when she saw him.

LOVED IT! It was way better than I had anticipated. And even though I read spoilers, I was pleasently surprised many times in this episode. Lindsay was not Claire's mum. Didn't see that one coming and it was so heartbreaking to see Claire pregnant at the end apologizing to her. Patchy's death=very disturbing, but well done. All the character interactions were so good. Claire's letter was awesome and the music was beautiful as well.
Awesome stuff and looks like it is just going to get better.
I'm partial to Claire episodes, they have never let me down yet, so I was an easy mark tonight. I thought the episode looked beautiful visually as well.
So my good disposition allows me to love the ep even with the biggest continuity gaffe in Lost history. See the superbly-named "Disowned by a Vegetable" thread below for further discussion on how exactly Comatose Mom went about disowning Claire.
I gripe all the time about the lack of answers/lack of questions, but strangely it never makes me mad when the show gives us the finger with lines like Danielle's about not really wanting answers. In fact, there were several lines about asking questions and getting or not getting answers tonight, which I found funny.
I loved the subtle and under-dramatic way Claire found out about the Charlie death prophecy, and the quiet way she responded to him about it. Very effective. I know some will find that last scene with Claire and Charlie and his reading the note a bit cheesy, but I liked it. I do wish Claire would not sort of use Aaron every time she's p.oed at Chaalie. Liked the flashbacks for giving us a surprising look at a Lostie, and if I hadn't been spoiled on it for about two years, a surprising twist connection.
Count my group as among those who totally called for Des to shoot that released bird out of the sky like a clay pigeon. But seriously, the bird idea was alot smarter than it sounded in the spoilers, thanks to the tags. Note was a wee bit wordy for note purposes, but good for Chaalie inspiration purposes.
I thought Emile was terrific, amazing what she can do everytime she gets to knock off all that rust and actually have lines and stuff. Might it dawn on someone somewhere in TPTBville that giving her say, one of Jack's 58 or 59 flashbacks so she has more than one a decade might be a good idea?
That said, I was a bit distracted in her big emotional goodbye scene with ComaMom by thinking that big ole blue vein in her head was gonna pop and give us our second head explode scene of the night. Sorry to be so shallow Emile, you were really good.
I also liked the jungle action and the ending, an actual third straight good ep! On a roll baby!
I had given this episode an 8. I really liked how we learned more by having Kate question Patchy.
I really liked the Locke and Sayid confrontation, though I was a little upset at how erratic Locke has been acting. Why did he lie about having explosives in his pack? Why is he doing things without consulting Kate and Sayid?
Spoiler:
Next week's promo clarified that a bit.
But I really liked the episode- I was actually getting into it again and feeling better about where it is going. I didn't like the device of having Danielle interrupt Patchy as he was talking to Locke, preventing us from learning any more info.
I am not a big Jack fan, but it was a nice shocking moment to see Jack having fun catching the football with Tom. Tom, who back in Season One seemed so dastardly and evil for taking Walt, now seems like a big teddy bear. Funny how that has worked out.
Sawyer was funny with catching himself about to use a nickname, and I enjoyed seeing Jin as well.
I am really looking forward to next week's flashback, and what Locke is really after on this quest- should be good...

Yes, I did! It was great fun...the way LOST should be.
But...how, how HOW could Jack be playing football with TOM, and smiling about it??? I hope it's cuz he has A Plan.

Best of the season for utilizing most of the cast effectively. Claire's flashback helped add credence to her trust issues on the island. Great C/C action for us shippers. Charlie and Claire on the beach at the end was their best scene yet. The writers just HAVE to let Charlie live so that this relationship can blossom. The jungle trek was an excellent Bstory. The scene at the end with Jack was really good. This is like the LOST of old. If anything can bring the viewers back its episodes like this.
Finally a flashback that means something...talk about answering a major question.
The search party...all seemlingly having different reasons for being there..Patchy getting his brain fried...talk about Locke turning coldblooded..wow. What was up with that C-4 in his pack?
Great to see Christian again.
And the end? Jack and Tom having a catch in Otherville?? WOW...the looks on all their faces. What on earth was that all about?
That is three in a row...I hope they keep this up..
Spoiler:
and from the preview...looks like the episode of a lifetime next week
