I believe this epi was specifically designed to throw a little light on Danielle's "story" and what inconsistencies there might be because of several parallels between her story and Patchy's. We should be suspicious.
I think there's a lot about Danielle that we don't know yet....

Right now, it seems like our theories of how many "groups" are on the island, and who owned/started/is currently using what is all up in the air.
Though I agree..I also noticed she mainly stayed behind him, hence only voice recognition as mentioned.
I didn't notice the look, I 'll have to watch for it again but I agree, they seemed to intentionally give the impression of similarities between Danielle and Patchy
I'm beginning to think more and more that Danielle may well have been one of the others, and could even have really been Ben's wife. Yes, I'm starting to think that Alex may just be Ben's biological daughter. Something awful must have happened to cause Rousseau to leave the Others camp to go and fend for herself.
It just seems more and more as if her story about all of her shipmates dying is complete b*llsh*t...
