Paulo made an interesting remark (57 days ago) along the lines of "we should have gone to Ethan, he would have helped."
By Sledgeweb's timeline, Ethan took Claire and Charlie on day 17, and Charlie killed him on day 29.
On day 23, how could anyone not have known about Ethan? He almost killed Charlie and had stolen the only pregnant girl on the island...how could this be a secret?
Re: Pikki didnt know Ethan took Claire and Charlie?
Maybe the other non A-team Losties are really kept in the dark like "Arnzt" said. But I am sure that they would have known this piece of info, but then again, they were a bit preoccupied worrying about their treasure to maybe notice what was going on around them that didn't concern them. Interesting thread!

I thought of that for a minute but I think it was too big with Claire missing and Charlie almost dead for them not to notice...the whole camp would have been talking about it. it was huge news for the whole community
Re: Pikki didnt know Ethan took Claire and Charlie?
Nice catch. This just backs up what I've been thinking for the last couple of days. I don't think we're done with Nikki and Paulo yet. I mean, I don't know if they'll come out of their grave alive or what, but we haven't learned everything vital about them yet.
I mean, this episode was their backstory. So, we only saw scenes on the Island that moved their story about finding the diamonds along. We saw a few days out of many, because those were the days with developments germane to that arc. I really think that this episode was just supposed to flesh out these characters, and the event that will make the "iconic" as TPTB have said has yet to happen.
My guess, like a lot of other people, is that Pikki was closer to Ethan than we've seen and might have actually helped hang Charlie. And what's you've posted here really seems to indicate that at least the first part of that theorey is correct.
Re: Pikki didnt know Ethan took Claire and Charlie?
I didnt think of them being Ethans helpers with hanging Charlie, They may have still had contact with him, after all, Paulo didnt tell Jack or anyone that Ben wanted 3 of the A-Team to pay him a visit

I can understand the A-Team not telling everyone everything. They rose to the top and became leaders because they got things done, let people know what they thought was important, and they knew how to motivate and organize. I would think that something that is a public threat (as Ethan was) would be common knowledge. Claire lived on the beach, Pikki lived on the beach. You would think that they would notice that the pretty pregnant blonde was missing. Sceve had every bone in his body broken on the beach. Pikki may have been preoccupied with the diamonds, but everybody was in on the watch for Ethan, they organized the watch and most of the watchers were the redshirts.
This is either a serious mistake from the writers, or a big clue that our Pikki were not what they seemed.

What if Desmond's time travel did change things and Claire was never kidnapped?
Re: Pikki didnt know Ethan took Claire and Charlie?
Jack- Hey everybody I'd like to make an announcement. Well you know Ethan right? Pretty cool guy right?
Red Shirts- yeah why?
Jack- Well it turns our that he actually was the person who was killing you guys and shortly after he almost killed Charlie via hanging him with vines. Oh and did I mention he kidnapped Claire? Pretty crazy huh? What's even crazier is that he did that under all of our noses despite us being heavily armed and him using nothing but his natural knowledge of the jungle. So who's on guard duty tonight?
Face it, the A time probably keeps the red shirts out of the loop as far as most of the important events on the Island.
