yeah you refreshed my memory! the original attempt or whatever you wanna call it is what i am thinking of. she was sleeping and woke up yelling and all the losties woke up and she says someone was trying to take my baby or stick a needle in me , blah blah blah! they sort of don't believe her, then later on , alone w/ charlie, she gets kidnapped! you are correct.....thanks for refreshing my memory!

I think the likely explanation is that they didn't know that Claire had been taken or that they didn't know it was Ethan. Remember when Claire returned and Ethan killed Steve (or Scott, I can't remember) they decided to tell everyone about Ethan's demands which led to them ambushing him and Charlie killing him.

As far as we know Pikki could have still been living on the beach and because most of the cave inhabitants would have been thrown into dissaray so the only way the beachies would have found out would be from one of them visiting the caves to get some water then relaying the message to the other beachies.

Plus, since the pair of them spent a lot of time wandering around looking for their diamonds they wouldn't have been around much.
