I don't think Ethan killed Sceve.* Ethan can't be both:
1. so brilliant that he could sneak up on Sceve and kill him with all the lookouts they had, and
2. so dumb that he walked right into the Claire trap.*
Nothing about the Ethan sequence of events makes sense to me.* He took both Charlie and Claire single-handedly the first time,* but needed Charlie to bring Claire to him the second time?* And why put everyone on notice that he was coming for Claire again?* If he could sneak up on Sceve, why not sneak up on Claire and just take her?*
Kato, those are all REAL good reasons why it physically wasn't Ethan that killed Sceve.
I mean... if Ethan didn't physically do it... he would have had to have had a hand in it .... right? If he didn't... that would make Ethan a lier, right?
I don't think Ethan's a lier. Which would mean that Ethan, as an Other, has some sort of control over the presumed creature on the island. Or control of something else powerfull enough to squish Sceve....maybe....water?
I wonder what 815lbs per sq inch of water pressure would do to bones?
I don't know exactly how or even what smashed his bones but I do have a theory that there might be underground tunnels all throughout the island. Maybe Ethan or who/whatever it was that killed him went through the tunnels and came from the water, like some said.

Why wouldn't Ethan lie?* (I'm not challenging you, just asking for the reason.)*
I think water could break bones, but I don't know it for a fact.* Don't people who jump off bridges break bones?* Something about hitting the water being the same as hitting concrete, from a certain height?*
If nothing that happens on this show is an accident, I still think there's more to the golf game than there seemed to be.* Didn't Ethan find the golf clubs?* And they made a point of Claire being alone.* Just a little scene to point up what a not-great father Michael is?*
And where did Ethan take off running to when Charlie told him Claire was having contractions?* He didn't run to Jack, and he didn't run back with Charlie, so where?
Could it be that Ethan is posessed by different "others" from time to time? One kidnapped them, another set Claire free, and the first one came back to her.......then they posessed some seacreature.......perhaps an octopuss.....they could crush bones.....

Why, yyeessss... hitting the water from a certain height IS like landing on concrete. I had forgotten about that.
So... maybe Ethan has some special bird call.... "Squwaak.. flap flap... grind, groan, grumble..." If you want to believe a flying nasty killed the Pilot... and Locke looked UP to see his vision... it would make sense then that something grabbed Sceve and dropped from a height.
Yeeeessss.... Ethan DID find the Golf clubs and give them to Hurley... although, Locke was there, too, when that happened.
Kato... what I meant by Ethan lying was.... why would he tell Charlie he'd kill someone every night until he got Claire back if he wasn't intending on doing so? He was rather specific about it.
If Ethan lied about that... man, I don't know... I'm having a hard time making that work.
Ah I see, if he didn't carry it through then people would have no reason to be terrified, and it would be an empty threat after the first night of nobody being killed.* That makes sense.*
Your bones have the breaking strength of cast iron, but are flexible. That is a lot of pressure from the water were it the rocks or coral that exerted the pressure then he would certainly be scratched up pretty bad.
This type of injury from the current? Maybe, but that is a strong sea and the rough water would certainly be noticed I would think from the shore.
The surface tension on the water would be enough if dropped from a high altitude but we are talking airplane or giant monster bird height now. 177 feet is I believe the world record so it's possible to survive from that height. Higher than that is certainly pushing the bounds of human endurance.
