Did the hit on the head send Desmond back in time again?

When Charlie hit Desmond in the head with the paddle, I wondered if this has sent him back in time again (while he is laying in the boat passed out). If so, will he go back to the same point in time as last time -- painting the apartment with Penny? And now he'll try different choices?

Hopefully as I think that whole flashes story line has ran its course IMHO. But I do think there is a definite significance to Desmond being hit over the head once again. We probably won't find out until season 4 though. Hopefully he doesn't sustain any brain damage from all of the times that has happened. It can't be good.
