Ok, in 'Greatest Hits Alex remarks "Is he my father?" at one point. Karl didn't respond, but his facial expression clearly implied he knew Ben wasn't her father.
How though? Even at Oldest I'd mark Karl at 22 and if you stretch it I suppose maybe 25 but if Alex is 16 then even at 25 Karl would only have been 9. I dunno about you guys but I have very vague memories of events which took place when I was 9. It just didn't make sense to me that Karl would know that Ben wasn't Alex's father.
I probably would have guessed that he was 19-21. The actor is actually 26. He looks much younger though. Still, at the age of 9-10 he probably wouldn't have been clued into the situation with Alex & Ben.
Maybe it was more of a look of concern that his girlfriend was even asking a question like that.
I don't think it comes from witnessing events... I think it comes from town gossip... or maybe Alex & Karl stumbled across evidence or something. (I smell a flashback...)
And let's not forget that -- for all we know -- Karl may be one of the "Hostiles" (the pre-Purge Others). If he is, then he may have the same odd aging (or non-aging) traits that Richard has. His apparent age could be radically different from his actual age...

1. It appears that Karl knows the truth about Alex and Ben not realling be daughter and father.
2. Someone said it was possible due to town gossip which to me is absolutly NOT possible. Ben is the clear cut leader and what decides goes. So why on earth would Ben let everyone gossip that Alex wasn't really his when the chance of her finding out is very high when everyone is talking about it. So this option is the least likely.
3. For Karl to know he would have to have been present during the period of time the abduction occured. If he really only is in his teens/20's it would be impossible for him to remeber what happened when he was 4-6 years old that after it happened would never be spoke of ever again. Just ask yourself when you were 4 how much do you remember.
So the logical answer is he was pre-dharma just like Richard and they used the life extension program on him same as Richard. That would obviously put Karl in his late 30's possibly.
Maybe...just maybe, Alex told Karl that Ben isn't her father. It's fairly obvious that she knows already, so I dont see why she would tell that to her boyfriend.

Alex does NOT know Ben is not her true father. The only thing she knows is her mother may still be alive. What show are you watching to get this info?
