For some reason, I had this feeling to start my own role play. I thought about it, and I came up with an idea I was pretty sure hadn't been done. The premise was this: let's say that instead of the plane breaking up into three parts over the island, that it stayed in one piece instead, and crashed right where Ana, Libby, and Eko landed in "The Other 48 Days." There, the surviving characters were met with much greater hardships than the ones on the other beach. They had no food, no fresh water, no supplies (as the plane lands in the water) and their people were the ones that had been taken.
Since everyone crashes on one part of the island, the Others are much closer. Ben sends Juliet, Ethan, and Goodwin to the join the survivors. To watch and monitor them, and then report back to the awaiting Others.
How would these characters that have been with us since Season 1 react to this alternate situation?

[Previously on Lost...]
We left the survivors amidst a startling ultimatum: that they pack up and move to one of the predetermined locations or else the Others would attack.
The news had been brought be Eko, one of the two men captured by the Others, in return for delivering the startling news to the survivors. Jin, the other kidnapped man, was also let free, but this was for another reason: to turn on the jamming device located inside the Looking Glass. However, when he got down there, he ran into the disgruntled Bonnie, whose job was to work at the station. She did not see a point in turning on the device, cutting off all contact from the outside world, and Ben was using Jin to do it instead. He promised, in return, to reunite him with his wife, Sun. Fueled by this desire, he disabled Bonnie with a shot to the leg, flooding the jamming room and sealing the door behind him, leaving the bleeding woman behind.
Sun, on the other hand, was not looking for her lost husband. She, and another survivor -- Boone -- had looked hard for any sign of his body, but they came up empty handed. They could only assume that the man was dead. Little did they know, he had washed ashore elsewhere, only to be taken by Ben's people. The two clung together for survival. Sun still loved him, but he had been cruel to her, and he was gone. Here was another man that was there for her, to take care of her, and she couldn't help but begin to fall in love. Boone loved someone else as well -- his step-sister, Shannon -- but he was falling in love with the woman as well. Little did they know, after sharing their first kiss, that her husband was on his way. And ready to make amends.
Another drama was occurring across the beach, inside the jungle. They had captured a man named Kerry during the second attack on the beach camp. They had made off with a few survivors, but Kerry had been caught taking one of the survivors, Steve -- or was it Scott? -- into the jungle by Ana Lucia and Sawyer. Ana managed to shoot the man before he escaped, bringing them back to the encampment. Sayid volunteered to torture the man for information, to find out who the people were and why they were coming. But it was Kerry who was the one that did the torturing. After screaming that Sayid's former lover, Nadia, was dead, Sayid lost it and began to beat him... forgetting the knife clenched into his hand. He soon realized what he had done.
Sayid fled into the jungle. Only to be caught up in one of Danielle's traps. The French woman was just returning from a strange encounter with one of Ben's people -- a woman by the name of Tracy. She warned the woman not to interfere with the survivors that had crashed on this island, or else harm would come to the daughter they had taken sixteen years before... Alex, who (as Tracy claimed) was a servant to their leader (although she actually was led to believe that she was his daughter). Danielle promised not to interfere, but that promise soon vanished when she ran into the man hanging in her net.
John and Libby, meanwhile, had discovered the body of Kerry. The two of them had slowly grown closer after the crash, Libby staying at John's side most of the time. John had suspected that two of the "survivors" of the plane crash -- Juliet and Goodwin, a "married" couple returning from their honeymoon -- were not on the plane at all. He had found a copy of the flight manifest, after all, and their named weren't on it. Even after they spun a tale about being in the witness protection program. They were getting worried of Locke's increasing interest, even though Tracy had promised that a briefcase with papers confirming their story would wash ashore that day (John found it in the clearing with Kerry's body, after Rose had dropped it when she learned her husband had been taken by the Others). After opening it, however, Locke was still convinced of their guilt.
Now that Eko had returned, he had a story to tell. After briefly speaking to Rose about meeting her husband -- only briefly -- at Ben's camp, after telling her how he appeared brainwashed, he quickly gathered a group of the survivors. This included Jack, Ana Lucia, Sawyer, Michael, Sun, Jin, and Charlie. Ana was just back from a trek to get water from a location at least a days walk away. Both Sawyer and Jack had accompanied her on different treks, and she soon found herself bonding -- and then sleeping with -- each of them. Then it is a bit of a problem when she begins to suspect that she is pregnant, and knows that one of them is the father.
Charlie had just opened up to Jack about his heroin addiction. He was also beginning a relationship with a young pregnant woman that survived the crash, Claire. Charlie stayed to listen to what Eko had to stay, while Claire left, finding the topic much to gruesome for her taste. Their relationship was just beginning to form, a slowly moving romance, while another romance was heated across the beach. Shannon was a woman you wouldn't expect to get involved with a woman, especially a criminal like Kate. But the two of them had formed a bond after the crash, and despite Boone's many wild accusations that Shannon was just using Kate as a crutch, that she had always needed someone to care for her, Kate stuck by her. This was something new for Shannon, someone who cared enough about her to stay despite what her step-brother told them. It was their relationship that helped Boone finally get passed his fixation on his sister, and begin to open up to Sun a little more. Michael and Walt's relationship only solidified after the crash. The two of them found the father-and-son connection that had been disconnected for so long, working as a team together, trying to find a better life on the island. It was Walt who found the handcuffs on the second trek for water, a pair whose owner is yet to be identified.
Eko tells the group what Ben had told him, showing them the map he had drawn, the positions where they could live safely plainly marked. Sun, translating for her husband, told them of the underwater station he went to and what he was forced to do there. They quickly talked about what they felt should happen, and the general consensus was to stay. Ben wanted them off the beach by the next evening, or the morning following that, so they had time to prepare for an attack... if they were willing to fight with such limited resources. Other proposed possibilities was to check out the Other's camp, or to do what he said... just pack up and leave.
What will these characters decide? Will they leave, do what Ben told them, just pack up and go... or will they stay and fight?
Since the thread has been inactive for a time, there will be a time jump to get things moving again. After we decide the length of time that has passed, and what has occurred during the jump, the information will be posted here.

Ben sat in the chair silently, his eyes slowly scanning across the television sets built into the observation room of the Hydra. There were eight of them, a fitting number, he believed. Each screen showed a different section of the station. Screen 2 showed outside, pointing towards the two cages that was normally held the polar bears. But they had escaped a long time ago. Sun and Rose sat in each of the cages, looking as if they had just woken up. It was the morning, after all. Just a little after eight.
When the kidnapped survivors of Flight 815 first came here, the cages were crowded. They had even begun to store some of the people downstairs, in the Hydra itself. But they slowly managed to weed out the weak ones, changing them, making them a part of their society. It was mostly due to the diligence of Richard, and the other Dharma employees who worked hard to get done what was needed. Now, only a handful of people were left for the process. The toughest nuts to crack.
Rose Nader, a strict religious woman. Sun Kwon, Jin's wife, who (based on the profile provided by Mikhail) was not as harmless as she looked. Claire was being held in the hospital, led by their top surgeon, Ethan. They were not even thinking of changing her at this point, the child's life inside of her was far too important. He had thought about bringing Juliet back, to look after her, but the woman's loyalties had been fraying lately. Ben wanted to keep an eye on her with the other survivors, wherever they were at this moment.
His eyes flashed to another screen, #5, eyes skipping passed the young Australian girl in screen Screen 4. It showed the interior of the Hydra, and Kate, the young criminal, was inside it. She had been the only mistake in the entire operation. The rest of the people they had cared about had been taken, but somehow mistook her for someone else and took her as well. She had been nothing but trouble since. Ben was still debating on whether or not he should have her killed, but Jacob warned him against it. His people may not like it if he began killing off the prisoners.
Ben sighed, eyes dropping down from the screens to the little map resting on the computer keyboard. It showed the island, incredibly detailed, and where he had scouts looking for the surviving members of Flight 815. When Ben had begun taking their people, a full three days after he told them he would come (the group had stupidly dropped their guard as the days passed), many panicked and fled into the jungle.
The ones that escaped were of no importance, Ben wasn't looking for any of them especially. And many of them were the undesirables, like the con man Sawyer, or the rebel cop Ana Lucia. Jack would have been someone of interest, but he obviously had too many loyalties to the survivors. They seemed to be using him as their figurehead already. And Ben wouldn't want to take away all their hope... at least, not yet.
His eyes returned to the television monitors, his glasses glinting in the dim light. Walt, on Screen 8. Now, he seemed to be an interesting case. Already, he had exhibit some paranormal abilities. Things seemed to shiver and quake around him, as if they were being controlled by his anger, his fear, his fury... whatever was pulsing red hot through his veins at the time. Walt seemed not to notice this, but Ben did. He had been watching him after all. He had a gift. A very special gift.
Ben sure could use him.
The door suddenly creaked open behind him, and Ben turned wondering who it could be. Isabel's blond head poked through the doorway. She had dark circles under her eyes, having been one of the ones working late to try and change the survivors they had taken.
"Hello Isabel, is everything ready?"
"Yes, Ben. He's waiting for you now, just down the hallway."
Ben smiled, pulling the glassed off his face and putting them in his front pocket. He stood, without glancing back at the cameras behind him, and followed Isabel out into the hallway. At her side, she held a manila folder, completely full of papers. Thankfully, Mikhail had managed to print off all the survivor's records before Ben decided that any outside communication was deemed unnecessary.
"Is this everything?" he asked. Even Ben was a bit tired. He hadn't slept in the last thirty-eight hours.
Isabel nodded, clearing her throat. "Yes, everything."
"Good, thank you Isabel. Now why don't you get some rest? You've worked hard."
Isabel nodded without smiling.
"Thank you, Ben, I'll get some shut eye right now."
Ben offered her another polite smile, but didn't say anything else as he walked hurriedly down the hallway to another room. This room was small, consisting of nothing but two chairs and a table. Ben pulled the door open, stepping slowly inside, taking his time to close the door behind him. He placed the papers on the table, pulling out the unfixed chair, and sitting down, placing his glassed back on slowly.
He seemed to regard the topmost paper for a moment, before his eyes darted up to the man sitting restrained in the chair before him.
"Hello Michael. I have a few questions for you. I hope you don't mind."

Sun Kwon
Sun sat up from the hard ground, rubbing her lower back. Sighing as she stared out from behind the thick metal bars. Why is this Happening to me? Eyes moving from the tree's to the woman in the cage across from hers. How long had they been here? it seemed like an eternity. Wasn't Jin or Boone worried about her? Clutching a hand to her stomach, the rumbling of hunger had been consistent since she slapped a guard two days ago for trying to undress her, They hadn't brought her any food since. Glancing around and walking to the bars, " Rose ? .. " she called softly " Rose are you alright ? " keeping an eye on the door the guards would soon emerge from praying Rose had a small amount of food left over she could toss to Sun.
Ana-Lucia Cortez
Ana sat wide awake staring out into space, away from the rest. Alone, like she had chosen to be the last few days. Staring at the trees, watching the early morning sun slowly stream through the thick cover. She did not like this living in the jungle thing, too many places for Them to hide. Gaze leaving the trees, and falling to her stomach She had taken the pregnancy test last night, god knows why Sawyer had it and why it was one of the things he grabbed when they we're ambushed, but it had confirmed her fears. She was pregnant, but what was worse, she didn't know who the father was. She had to tell Jack, that wouldn't be too hard, Sawyer was who she worried wouldn't take the news that Jack could be the father well. Sighing and standing up, walking back towards where everyone was sleeping, she didn't know how many they had lost, but it had been two weeks, and she doubted they we're still alive, these people didn't seem very mentally stable. She quietly stepped over a few people who were still sleeping, making her way to the water stash, rummaging through all empty bottles. " damn "
They would have to go get more water today, she didn't particularly want to be the one to lead it. Maybe she should go alone, she could be back in one hours tops and would enjoy more alone time. Snaking over to Sawyer, gently tugging the gun from his jeans and grabbing up a back pack stuffing it full of water bottles. Putting the gun in the back of her jeans and glancing back once more, she started walking towards the small stream they had found last week.
It had been a week since the last group of survivors had been taken. Michael, Walt, and four people whose names they forgot had gone on a water run on an extremely hot day. Michael and Walt never found shoes that fit, but their feet had toughened considerably in nearly two weeks. Michael got an old tee shirt left behind by one of the people gone missing three days after Ben's deadline, but there was still nothing in Walt's size. Walt didn't mind running around in just his ever-increasingly tattered shorts as the equatorial sun burned bright every day near the autumnal equinox.
At the river, Walt dove in, and floated downstream. It was refreshingly cool, and he didn't notice that he drifted farther than he should, when he was suddenly grabbed by two Others.
"HEEELLP!"
Michael and the redshirts came running after, but the redshirts were taken out by tranquilizer darts. Michael dodged some, then was eventually hit as he came close. He yanked the dart out of his stomach, and slugged an Other before he dropped to the ground. With the distraction, Walt pulled out the handcuffs he had found and tried to handcuff the two Others together, but was overpowered when a third showed up. Walt kicked this last one in the groin, causing great pain, but the first two then used this distraction to tackle Walt and handcuff him behind his back.
Michael struggled up, but the tranquilizer dart was taking its toll. He couldn't fight effectively, and the Others ripped his tee shirt off, tore it in strips, and used it to blindfold Michael and Walt and tie Michael's hands. They signaled for backup. Three more Others took the redshirts away, and they were assimilated into the Others' society. But Michael and Walt were much more strong-willed.
During the hike, a polar bear suddenly emerged from the jungle, charging those who held Walt. The Others took it down with eight shots, and made sure to report this incident to Ben. Then Michael and Walt were marched a good distance, and shoved into some kind of boat for a trip of around three kilometers. They reached another island shore, were marched again a shorter distance, and thrown into separate cages.
Saturday, October 9, 2004
Michael's strength returned in several hours, and now he could easily tear the tee-shirt binding his hands. A guard came to give him some food and water, which Michael consumed. Then he pretended to be asleep when the guard came back to take back the tray and water bottle. Michael sprang up, and punched the guard in his face, breaking his nose. But Michael was shot in the back by a tranquilizer dart between the bars by an Other he didn't see. Michael was soon escroted into another building, forced into a small room, and strapped into a heavy chair, thick leather straps binding his wrists to the arms of the chair and his shins to the legs. For good measure, two more straps went just about his elbows, effectively pinning his back to the chair.
Walt was left handcuffed in his cell for four hours. The guards explained that they didn't have the key, and neither did Walt. Helpless, Walt tried to sleep on his stomach, but that wasn't very restful. Eventually the gurards came back with bolt cutters, and cut the handcuffs off with Walt standing with his back against the bars. They gave him some food and water through the bars, not wanting to risk an incident similar to the one with Michael. Walt ate, and slid back his tray and water bottle without thinking.
"What did you do with my father? What do you want with me?"
The guards didn't answer, leaving important decisions to Ben. They left Walt alone, not offering any clean clothes or more food. Walt examined his cage. He pulled on all the bars, and while he did a good job flexing his muscles in the process, he didn't budge the solid steel. The bars were a little too close for him to slip through. Then he climbed the bars to the ceiling, but that was welded tight, without enough room to climb through.
This stinks! I'm just like a dumb animal in a cage at the zoo!
Walt examined the cage some more, and found manacles attached to some of the bars and the floor. He reached up, noting they could fit around his wrists and ankles. Those on the solid metal floor were similarly positioned. Walt shuddered.
It could be worse.
Unable to think of anything more to do, Walt sat in a corner, pulling his knees to his chest.
I need you, Dad!
Michael heard footsteps approaching. He strained against his bonds. His biceps bulged, his chest heaved, and veins stood out on his neck. His heart was pounding as Ben entered and sat across from him.

Reason: fixed description to include crossing to Hydra island, and moving Michael from a cage into the small room.
Sitting on a rock outcropping, John munched on a slice of fruit, while he glanced across the water. In the distance he could see another island. It was there he had discovered some of his fellow survivors had been taken hostage by the people who had become known as the Others.
Two weeks earlier, word had reached the survivors camp that there was another impending attack. A decision had to be made and John had chosen to protect himself. While he wanted to help his fellow survivors, he felt he'd be more help to them alive. So far that had proven to be true.
Hiding in the jungle, John had been able to watch as the Others snuck into the camp. The Others were very good at covering their tracks, but with enough determination, John had been able to locate the place where the captives had been taken. A second island just off the coast, where Flight 815 had gone down.
The prisoners had been taken across on a boat. John Locke had no boat. However, he located something better. While searching the coastline directly across from the second island, John managed to come upon a hidden passageway. It was this passageway that led to a hidden tunnel between the two islands. After sneaking across, John was able to verify that was exactly where his friends were being held.
Cutting off one last slice of fruit, John chucked the rest into the water. It was time to return to his fellow survivors. As he stood, he returned his knife to his belt. Placing his backpack over his shoulders, John made his way into the jungle.
Rose awoke with the familiar warmth of sunlight against her face, and she sat up slowly, blinking at the foggy world around her. For a brief second, she let herself believe that she wasn't in a cage at all. But back home in New York, Bernard by her side, and that a moment later she would tell him all about this surreal dream she just had. But that moment quickly passed, and the crushing weight of reality dropped down upon her.
Bernard was not with her. He was here, she knew that... somehow, she could just sense his presence. But he was changed now, so she quickly reminded herself. He was not the Bernard she knew. And she would not be speaking to him in the near foreseeable future.
She did not think about a more pressing matter, the one on what had woken up, until she forced herself to cope with the lost of her husband. It was something she had to renew every morning, or else she felt she would be crushed by it. She blinked a few more times, looking over at Sun across the pathway in the other set of cages, leaning forward against the bars.
Almost as if the word were on a delay, they finally came to her, although Sun's mouth did not move the entire time:

Rose blinked a few more times, for Sun had began to split into two, and the illusion went away. She had been sleeping most of the day away, trying to conserve her energy, almost expecting to be let free any day now. Or to be taken away, like all the others, and never to be seen again...
"Yes, Sun, I'm fine." she said, as she pushed herself up to her feet and stretched lightly. It was always hard to get going in the morning. "Is everything fine with you?"
It was surprising how she could still find the strength to stay kind, compassionate. It had not left her at all. She did not know what did it. The fact that Bernard would not want to her to become some evil villon looking after only herself, or her faith that God would pull through for all of them in then end. The two personal objects she managed to keep clinked together against her chest. No matter how hard these people tried, she did not let them take the chain containing her husband's wedding ring and the small cross away.
It was all she had left in the world. Her love and her faith. Ben Linus
Michael did not seem very happy to see him. He obviously had been straining against the seat that bound him before Ben has entered. His breathing was heavy, the veins in his neck still bulging. Obviously, he did not like being secured in this way. And he also seemed not to like talking like a calm, rational individual.

"Tsk, tsk, Michael..." Ben said softly, eyes straying back to the papers before him. "If you continue to have a temper with me neither of us will get anywhere. And you have just as many questions you want answered as I do, so that would leave both of us feeling unsatisfied."
Words on the page coming into clearer focus. A name: "Susan Lloyd". A brief snatch of sentence: "took Walt and left him". The words, in large print, near the top of the page: "WIFE DECEASED".
Ben looked up calmly, staring the distressed man in the eyes.
"Does it still hurt, Michael? I know she left you some time ago, but does it still hurt? Does it feel like a piece of you is missing, still, after all these years? Or are you glad that your wife is dead? Are you glad that she died, giving you a chance to reunite with the son you tried so hard to have a relationship with?"
The corners of his mouth drawing back some, a playful smile on his face. He wanted to get him angry.
"We didn't really want to take you, Michael, I'll tell you that now. But we need information -- information our files do not supply us with. You see, the real reason you and I are here right now is talk about your son, Walt. He is a very special boy, Michael. So special, you cannot even comprehend how special he is..."
...how special he will be, to us, to all of us... Juliet Burke
Sleep didn't come easy at night, even wrapped in the protective prison of Goodwin's arms. She always felt the need to open her eyes every few minutes, just to look around... to make sure that no one was coming for her. She wasn't afraid of Ben, not at all. She was beginning to get afraid of all these people around her. They were all acting stupidly, giving her and Goodwin hard glances from the side of their eyes whenever they got too close, stopping conversations abruptly whenever they were near, always keeping them as far away as possible.
Yes, they were stupid in thinking that Juliet and Goodwin were going to suddenly jump out and beginning grabbing people. But stupid people are tend to do stupid things... like try and kidnap someone in the middle of the night. And Juliet did not want to be thrown into these people's version of jail. Where was their right, anyway? Sure, not everyone believed that they were a part of the Others. Even the people that were acting so odd to them did not know, they just suspected... the result of the seeds Locke had planted back on the beach.
Wherever he was, Juliet hoped he wasn't having a very good time. She came here to escape Ben, to be with the one she loved, but now she was finding it just as difficult as being under that man's control. Her fears may be a little overdone, these people were nowhere close to enough hysteria to grab them and throw them into a crudely constructed jail. They were just wary, for now. But that did not stop Juliet from worrying. Not one bit.
She felt Goodwin stir behind her, and she quickly put on a ruse as if she was just waking up herself. Slowly moving her head, her hands tightening slightly against Goodwin's arms, a good yawn thrown in their for effect. The camp was just beginning to wake up, already Ana Lucia was moving, down to the small stream they had discovered (it was located on Ben's map, so they hadn't really "discovered" it) a week ago.
"Goodwin, are you awake?" Juliet asked softly, keeping with the facade that she had slept all night. She had only gotten brief spurts all night, probably totaling up to something more than two hours worth, but still, she felt rested enough. She had been trained to live on a lack of sleep.
