Hurley, Horseshoes, Walt, Knife Throwing, and Special People

When Hurley hit that perfect horseshoe shot at the end tonight, did anyone else think of Walt and the knife-throwing in season 1?

Along those lines, is Hurley special like Walt?

- He can see things others can't - Charlie, Jacob's cabin
- He can make things happen using the power of his mind (presumably) like the horseshoe.

Is Hurley "special"?

Yes, his using the numbers in the lottery allows him to affect his luck just by thinking about it! Don't ask me how, I don't know.

Yes, i did. Especially since they showed Hurley focusing on the shot for a few seconds before he threw it.

But... Walt did cream him in Backgammon. Maybe his powers have only more recently become active? Like, since he started the Dharma van?

Or Walts powers are more tuned in/powerful.

I am pretty sure Hurley is special since he can locate Jacobs cabin.

Not only was his shot a ringer, It didn't knoock off Sawyer's leaner. That is a very special shot.

Uh, what about the fact that previously Hurley just had the worst luck imaginable. And now in at least two episodes, they have shown us that his luck has done a 180 degree turn.

First Jack comments on how he never misses at basketball, and then Sawyer and the horseshoes. So what are they setting us up for?

I thought Hurley's own luck has always been good -- it's just after winning the lottery, the luck of some around him went bad.

The scene with Hurley shooting hoops is exactly what I was thinking about when he said something about being lucky...especially since we've seen from his FB he wasn't exactly the luckiest guy in the world.
Maybe his luck has changed now that he has located the source of his unlucky numbers...

This is why I thought the pole was magnetized.
