Not a coincidence, no.

Some form of teleportation, apparently, but kinda rough and ready.

Might explain why all the people in the crash who remained in the plane died, and all the people who woke up after being strewn along the beach had only minor injuries. I think they were removed somehow before the actual crash.

Re: Ben lying in the Desert

Yeah, my first thought was that he had the same kind of "consciousness time travel" that Desmond experiences. As the episode unfolded, I was thinking that we would see Ben shooting back and forth between island time and his future self - with the difference being that he's honed that ability and perhaps knew how to control it at will.
But alas, I guess that's not quite how it panned out as the flash forward sequences and the island time sequences weren't structured similarly to the Desmond episode.

But still, it does make me wonder why and how Ben finds himself lying in the middle of the desert. I don't recall seeing how that was explained. Didn't he just tell Sayid that he just used Desmond's boat to get off the island and find him?

Re: Ben lying in the Desert

I just watched the episode and this is the first thread I've seen, no-doubt this subject has already been covered in other threads and that being said it's possible that this one might get closed but...

..my guess is that Ben teleported from The Orchid and that Dr. Edgar Hallowax was the one who sent him there, the coat Ben was wearing has a new DHARMA logo on it and the name HALLOWAX.

I'd also guess that Ben didn't land/appear too far away from where that Polar Bear was found, unless my geography is way off, which it often is.

Re: Ben lying in the Desert

Does anyone think somewhere along the line Ben has had some training? He seemed to dispatch of the 2 cronies fairly easily. Looking back, he looks like he is accustomed to taking pain too. That seems to me like he has been trained in military/militia type things.

Another one of Ben's lies I suspect.
