No, I am your Sister....

"If you will not join the darkside, then perhaps she will."

Even though I knew that Claire was Jack's sister and Aaron is Jack's nephew and that Jack knew from what he said in SNBH, that scene had the dramatic weight of Jupiter attached to it. I could see all the moments Jack spent with her playing in Jack's head. As well as the sadness that he most likely will never see her again. Do you think he did a DNA test?

I don't think he had any reason to doubt what Claires mother was telling him.
His father was no up standing guy and Jack knew this.

Well the Island isnt the dark side, but it seems by Christian's future appearances to Jack that he wants Jack to come to the "darkside". Just like Claire. Sorry, my brain went Star Wars went Jack stepped on the Falcon.

I'm pretty sure Jack believed her and I'm sure that is why he has such a hard time being with Aaron. I'm sure he feels guilty about maybe not trying hard enough to get her off of the island or not being able to save her (since we don't know what happens to her yet).

Re: No, I am your Sister....

i'm sure the guilt of Claire being left on the island either dead or lost just became even greater to him. he is so wrapped with "saving" people that he probably thinks if he had one more chance, he would find her. it's just the beginning of his mission to go back.

You could put Jack and Kate on a New York City street and have them pass each other at rush hour on a Wednesday morning. And they would stop and turn, slowing to watch each other go by. They know each other within the context of a universal recognition. They have met before this life. And, they will meet again, in another.

Same here. It was the best scene of the episode.

I totally agree.

I keep thinking about the contrast in this episode. When Jack meets up with Sawyer and hears that Sawyer "lost" her. (Hmmm that sentence is starting take on another meaning. But I digress.) He doubles over perhaps partially due to the operation, perhaps just feeling responsible for her being lost. He does not even know that she is his sister, but still he is visibly upset she's gone.

Then back home once he finds out she is his sister he must feel ten times more upset. But because of the lie, he can't show it. He can't let Claire's mom know that he had any dealings with her or has even heard of her name before. Even though you could tell it was like he had taken a shot to the gut. He had to pretend (like he tried with his appendix) that the loss was painful but not his personally. Matthew Fox did that extremely well. You could tell there was so much more going on inside of him.

The entire scene on the transport bothered me a bit. Jack was asleep. Everyone else was in shock. He didn't seem phased a bit. He played out the lie like a pro, but now that he knows who his sister is, he is in shock just like all the rest of the six. He may have come to it a bit late, but now he too has joined the "lost" club.
