Re: Highlander Film on June 5

Hmmm...interesting. Looks like they are going for kind of a crossover audience. Personally, I am a Highlander fan more than an anime fan. I'd really love to know who they are getting for voiceovers. I'm not sure how this would go over without Christopher Lambert or Adrian Paul, or maybe Sean Connery, at least with the Highlander fans. If it's something completely different, I'm not sure I will be sold on the anime feature. There's no emotional tie for me without one of them being involved.

Re: Highlander Film on June 5

Well, it's interesting considering that Adrian Paul has filmed a new Highlander movie that should be out this year, I think. It has been completed anyway. It's called "Highlander-The Source." Would be interesting if they were both released kind of close together. The anime version might actually get a bump from that.

Re: Highlander Film on June 5

I just don't understand how they can keep going with them. We already got to the "there can be only one" and then there was one but they keep coming up with more immortals. And who are we supposed to be rooting for, Connor or Duncan?

Thanks!!!

Well, I think that was supposed to have been overcome by the plotpoint in the second or third movie (can't remember which) that Connor was tricked, and that he was not actually the last immortal left alive, and thus did not win the Prize. (Surely, he would have known at the time that his cousin, Duncan, was still alive and kicking.) I scoff at the idea of more immortals coming to earth from somewhere in outerspace as an explanation though. Also, the third movie was supposed to be a prequel to the second, and I tend to disregard the second movie altogether. Hopefully, the soon to be released "Highlander: The Source" will give a more palatable explanation for some of the inconsistencies, but I also think the Highlander fandom is a bit more forgiving of this kind of thing than certain other fandoms. Highlander fans seem to look almost lovingly on the inconsistencies.

I have high hopes for the new release. It sounds like it's going to be a great story. Highlander: Endgame, while it compared favorably with the second and third of the films imo, was kind of choppy in places. The overall story was good, but I think it suffered from poor editing.

Oh, and I just found out that Highlander: The Source is scheduled to be released in February. Yay!

I also found a trailer.

As for who we are supposed to be rooting for, umm...I think the only choice left is Duncan. You never can tell though. This makes me happy because I like Duncan more, probably because the series was soooo much better than the movies.

As for the anime feature,

Spoiler:
maybe it will focus on Duncan's son, Connor. Yes, you read that right.

If that's the case, I may be up for the anime feature also.

Re: Highlander Film on June 5

Good news and bad news x 2.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0465657/

The good news is that David Abramowitz is listed as writer. The bad news is that he has apparently renamed Connor as Colin for the animated feature.

The good news is that Peter Wingfield is reported to be one of the voiceover artists. The bad news is that Wingfield is not reprising his role as Methos, but some other character of whom I have never heard.

I just don't know what to think.
